During their appearance on Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show‘, the series’ cast had anecdotes to share about the director. Rucha mentioned, “You’re not required to do much. Wearing a heavy 20-kilo lehenga, you spin around eight times. When you reach your mark, you pause, glance upward, and shed a tear from your left eye.”
The actress further commented, “As you may have noticed in the posters, I have flowers adorning my head. Those roses had to be replaced multiple times. He remarked, ‘This rose has gone wild. Get it replaced.'”
Sharmin Segal mentioned, “Once, he spotted a stray thread. During a close-up, he noticed a thread protruding from the dress and insisted on a retake.” Sonakshi Sinha humorously added, “Occasionally, the decorative lamp would flicker in the background. Sometimes, the curtain wasn’t perfectly folded. And at times, the drape of the dress wasn’t just right.”
Heeramandi, known for its lavishness and enchanting setting, had a massive production budget of Rs 200 crore. Sanjay Leela Bhansali reportedly charged between Rs 60-70 crore for directing the project. Sonakshi Sinha earned Rs 2 crore for her roles as Rehana and Fareedan. Manisha Koirala and Richa Chadha were paid Rs 1 crore each for their characters Mallikajaan and Lajjo, respectively. Aditi Rao Hydari, acclaimed for her portrayal of Bibbojaan, received between Rs 1-1.5 crore.
Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal purportedly received Rs 40 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, respectively, for their roles as Rehana and Alamzeb. Fardeen Khan, marking his awaited return as Wali Mohommad, charged Rs 75 lakh.
