The company began the year with the release of the GLS facelift SUV in January. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect from the two forthcoming models.
Exciting Debut: Mercedes-Benz Unveils AMG S63 and Maybach GLS 600 Models on May 22: What to Expect
The upcoming AMG version of the S Class sedan will be the most powerful iteration of Mercedes’ flagship model in India. The AMG S63 E Performance will feature design enhancements including the AMG grille, larger air intakes, 21-inch alloy wheels, and quad-exhaust tips. Inside, the sedan will boast AMG-specific updates, a 12.8-inch MBUX infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, four-zone automatic climate control, and more. Additionally, the AMG S63 will offer driving features such as AMG Ride Control+ suspension, AMG Active Ride Control stabilization with electromechanical anti-roll bars, and rear-axle steering.
The upcoming performance sedan is set to impress with its formidable powertrain configuration. Under the hood, it will feature a robust twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine, renowned for its potency and performance capabilities. But what truly sets this model apart is its integration of electric power.
Enhancing its power output is a rear-axle-mounted asynchronous electric motor, working in tandem with a 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This cutting-edge setup not only boosts the car’s power but also introduces an element of eco-consciousness to its performance.
The result of this innovative combination is nothing short of breathtaking. The AMG S63 is poised to deliver an astounding 802 brake horsepower, ensuring exhilarating acceleration and thrilling driving dynamics. Moreover, it achieves an impressive peak torque of 1,430 Newton-meters, translating into remarkable pulling power and responsiveness.
Yet, the innovation doesn’t stop there. With the battery’s support, the sedan can travel up to approximately 33 kilometers solely on electric power, showcasing a commitment to eco-friendly driving without compromising on performance. This harmonious blend of raw power and eco-conscious efficiency underscores Mercedes-Benz’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering.
Mercedes will introduce the updated Maybach GLS 600 facelift SUV, incorporating enhancements from its global-spec version. Exterior changes for the updated Maybach GLS 600 will feature new LED headlight and taillight units, a revised grille with larger vertical chrome slats, redesigned front bumpers, new 22-inch alloy wheels, and more. Inside, the Maybach GLS 600 will remain largely unchanged, except for a few updates such as a redesigned steering wheel, dual-screen display, rear passenger infotainment screens, a 27-speaker Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, and Manufaktur leather upholstery.
Mercedes will outfit the Maybach GLS 600 with the identical 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged petrol engine, accompanied by a 48V starter-generator. Paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, this engine can deliver 557 bhp of power and 730 Nm of peak torque.
