Tata Curvv EV Launched In India Price Starts At Rs 17.49 Lakh
Tata Motors Launches Fifth All-Electric Vehicle: Curvv EV, Priced from Rs 17.49 Lakh to Rs 21.99 Lakh
Tata Motors has launched its much-anticipated fifth all-electric vehicle, the Curvv EV, in India, adding a new dimension to its expanding electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. With prices ranging from Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Curvv EV is poised to challenge the MG ZS EV, which is currently priced between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
Battery Options and Range
The Curvv EV comes with two battery pack options to cater to varying customer needs. The first option is a 40.5kWh battery, available in the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ variants, offering a MIDC range of 502km. The second, more powerful option is a 55kWh battery, available in the Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A variants, providing a MIDC range of 585km.
Tata Motors has employed its C75 testing standard to offer a more realistic range estimate, closer to real-world driving conditions. According to this standard, the long-range 55kWh version can achieve a range of 400-425km, while the 40.5kWh version is expected to deliver 330-350km. For comparison, the MG ZS EV, which comes with a 50.3kWh battery, has an ARAI-rated range of 461km.
Performance and Charging
Under the hood, all Curvv EV variants are powered by a 167 bhp electric motor mounted on the front axle. This configuration allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100kph in just 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 160kph, making it one of the quicker options in its segment.
Charging capabilities are another strong point for the Curvv EV. The model supports fast charging, with the ability to add up to 150km of range in just 15 minutes. Additionally, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 40 minutes using a 70kW charger. The Curvv EV also features advanced charging technologies such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, both of which can be managed via Tata’s iRA app.
Design and Features
Tata Motors has given the Curvv EV a distinctive design that blends futuristic elements with practical aesthetics. The front features a closed-off grille and a nose-mounted charger, while vertical styling elements on the bumper and 18-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels add to the vehicle’s sleek, aerodynamic look.
Inside, the Curvv EV boasts a dual-tone white and grey cabin that exudes a sense of modernity and sophistication. The vehicle is packed with features aimed at enhancing comfort and convenience. Notable among these is a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, a touch-based climate control panel, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that includes navigation for the top models. Other interior highlights include a rotary drive selector, a wireless charging pad, and a generous 500 litres of boot space.
High-End Features and Safety
Top-spec Curvv EV variants are equipped with luxurious touches such as leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate with gesture control, and a premium 320W 9-speaker JBL sound system.
Safety has been a priority for Tata Motors in the design of the Curvv EV. The vehicle comes with a suite of safety features including six airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start and descent assist, a driver drowsiness alert, a blind spot monitor, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features.
Customization Options
In a move to enhance customer experience, Tata Motors has also launched a range of accessories under the brand Tata.ev Originals. These accessories allow buyers to personalize their Curvv EV, tailoring the vehicle to their specific tastes and requirements.
Conclusion
With its competitive pricing, impressive range of features, and advanced technology, the Tata Curvv EV is set to make a strong impact in the Indian EV market. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, Tata Motors’ latest offering could be a game-changer in the segment, particularly as it takes on rivals like the MG ZS EV.
