Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation, it’s likely that IPL 2024 will mark the end of Dhoni’s illustrious career. Handing over leadership responsibilities before the season hinted at this possibility. Dhoni’s limited batting appearances, delayed due to a knee injury persisting from the previous season, further suggest this.

In 13 matches of IPL 2024, Dhoni has scored 136 runs at an impressive strike rate of 226.66, being dismissed only once. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bat first. Dhruv Jurel made his debut for Rajasthan Royals, while CSK replaced Mitchell Santner with Maheesh Theekshana.

Ultimately, CSK secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in a low-scoring encounter, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the IPL playoffs. In the first innings, CSK’s seamers, led by Simarjeet Singh, restricted Rajasthan Royals to 141/5, with Tushar Deshpande claiming 2/30, supported by disciplined spells from other bowlers. Riyan Parag top-scored for RR with an unbeaten 47 off 35 balls, including three sixes and one four.
