Apple Introduces iPad Pro (2024) with Tandem OLED Display and M4 Chip, Unveils Apple Pencil Pro and New Magic Keyboard

Apple introduced its latest flagship tablet, the iPad Pro (2024), during its recent unveiling event. This model features an innovative ‘Tandem OLED’ display, marking a departure from the previous Mini-LED technology seen in the 2022 version. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, the new iPad Pro boasts slimmer bezels compared to its predecessor. It runs on the powerful M4 chip, offers storage options up to 2TB, and comes preloaded with iPadOS 17. Additionally, Apple revealed the Apple Pencil Pro and a new Magic Keyboard designed to complement the new iPad Pro at the same event.

iPad Pro (2024) price in India, availability

The iPad Pro (2024) is priced starting at Rs. 99,900 in India for the 11-inch model with Wi-Fi connectivity, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant costs Rs. 1,19,900. For the 13-inch version, the prices start at Rs. 1,29,900 for Wi-Fi and Rs. 1,49,900 for Wi-Fi + Cellular.

Apple offers storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB for the new iPad Pro. The 11-inch models are priced at Rs. 99,900 (256GB), Rs. 1,19,900 (512GB), Rs. 1,59,900 (1TB), and Rs. 1,99,900 (2TB). For the 13-inch iPad Pro, the prices are Rs. 1,29,900 (256GB), Rs. 1,49,900 (512GB), Rs. 1,89,900 (1TB), and Rs. 2,29,900 (2TB).

In India, the newly introduced Apple Pencil Pro costs Rs. 11,900, while the new Magic Keyboard is priced at Rs. 29,900 for the 11-inch version and Rs. 33,900 for the 13-inch version, according to Apple’s pricing.

In the US, the starting prices for the iPad Pro (2024) lineup are $999 and $1,299, with pre-orders opening today. The Apple Pencil Pro is available for $129.

Comparatively, in 2022, Apple released the iPad Pro (2022) in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, priced at Rs. 81,900 and Rs. 1,12,900, respectively.

iPad Pro (2024) specifications

In 2024, Apple has introduced the iPad Pro (2024) featuring its newest 10-core M4 chip, marking it as the company’s most potent tablet yet. This chip surpasses even the M3 chips powering Apple’s MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. Apple claims that the M4 chip offers equivalent performance to the M2 chip found in the previous iPad Pro (2022) model but consumes only half the power. Additionally, Apple highlights enhancements to the Neural Engine for handling on-device AI tasks in the latest iPad Pro iteration.

The iPad Pro (2024) models come in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, featuring Apple’s latest Tandem OLED screens with a 120Hz (ProMotion) refresh rate, True Tone support, and P3 wide color gamut coverage, boasting a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. These Ultra Retina XDR displays offer an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 30Hz to 120Hz. Customers can opt for a Nano-texture display glass on the 1TB and 2TB iPad Pro (2024) models.

The front of the iPad Pro hosts a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle TrueDepth camera with landscape orientation, akin to the iPad Air (2024), supporting Center Stage. At the rear, there’s a 12-megapixel primary camera and a LiDAR scanner. The rear camera enables ProRes video recording up to 4K at 30fps and slow-motion video recording at 1080p at up to 240fps.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 support for charging (at 20W). In the US, the iPad Pro (2024) supports both Sub-6 and mmWave 5G connectivity, while other regions will have support for Sub-6 5G networks. It features Face ID for biometric authentication. Dimensions for the 11-inch model are 249.7×177.5×5.3mm and for the 13-inch model are 281.6×215.5×55.1mm, with weights up to 446g for the 11-inch and up to 582g for the 13-inch.

The new Apple Pencil Pro includes a sensor in the stylus’ barrel enabling ‘squeeze’ gestures to bring up a tool palette, along with a haptic engine for confirmation of certain gestures. It also features a gyroscope allowing users to ‘roll’ the stylus to change the orientation of shaped tools. Additionally, Apple Pencil Pro supports the Find My network.
